A highlight of my April was the completion of the first draft of my comic’s storyboard (in my last letter I was working on it and giving you a peek into my process :)). Yay!! Now I’m waiting for feedback from my editor. In the meantime I’m going to experiment with the final style for the comic β and work on more stories with Loukoum & co. that I can pitch to my publisher. But first, I’ve started a little side project π.

I’m slowly recovering (physically and mentally) from my broken femur, and my priority is working on my comic book for Kibitz editions! I initially thought I would provide the storyboard by mid-February, or at the latest by the end of the month, but under the circumstances I made virtually no progress until mid-March.
No letter in January, the February letter only coming to you in March!? The reason: I broke my leg on Jan. 12th (black ice during my morning walkβ¦) π±οΈ. I am now a human-metal hybrid π€π₯²οΈβ¦
A short letter and a few pictures before the studio closes for the year :)
So I did not manage to send a letter from Mexico π. I thought I could just say hello, but on the other hand I had prepared material for a full-blown letter, while not really knowing how to handle it from my mobile phone. Also, jetlag, illnesses, and overwhelm from so many strange and new experiences (and no, in Mexico City β a.k.a. CDMX for βCiudad De MeXicoβ ποΈ β you can’t get far speaking English / no Spanish π¬οΈ). So the letter did not happenβ¦
Anyway, here I am now with some eye candy for you ποΈ!
As I’m scrambling to prepare for the Frankfurt Book Fair next month β creating new pieces, promotional material, and a book pitch β all while continuing to work on my comic, I’m taking a moment to write this letter, a calm moment to reflect.
I hope that reading the letter is creating a calm moment for you too, a pause in your busy day :)
The email letter came a little late this month, as last week (when I was supposed to write it) I’ve been unexpectedly busy reviewing a contract proposal for my very first comic book! β¨ (not offically signed yet so staying cautiously optimistic, but it looks like it’s really going to happen π)
Stay tuned for updates, and in the meantime, enjoy some birds and some travel inspiration π
Sorry (not too sorry ;)), this will be a long one! At the time I would have been supposed to write the June letter I was in Swedish Lapland, paddling in a packraft, sleeping in a hammock, hiking in a pathless forest, or driving our camper vanβ¦ It was a bit too much so I had to skip the letter β but shot all the more photos π .
This month (as opposed to the last) I found a lot to choose from, both art-wise and photo-wise, so here’s an eclectic mix β plus our artist of the month. Enjoy! :)
This should be a short one as I’ve been and still am busy preparing a pitch of my comic project, which has to be delivered on May 16th at the latest. So let’s go!
