Hares again, Barcelona, and a comet โ€“ Letter from the studio, May 2026

Already 5 weeks have gone by since my last letter, looking at my artistic production you wouldn’t think so ๐Ÿ˜…. So I’m inviting you once more to join me on a journey of creating an illustration that doesn’t exist yet :) One of those weeks was spent on a trip to Barcelona, and Iโ€™ve brought back some photos full of magical light and colours to share with you.

Drawing words, and the tiniest snail! โ€“ Letter from the studio, April 2026

A highlight of my April was the completion of the first draft of my comic’s storyboard (in my last letter I was working on it and giving you a peek into my process :)). Yay!! Now I’m waiting for feedback from my editor. In the meantime I’m going to experiment with the final style for the comic โ€“ and work on more stories with Loukoum & co. that I can pitch to my publisher. But first, I’ve started a little side project ๐Ÿ˜.

Behind the scenes of creating my comic book, and a giant of the sees โ€“ Letter from the studio, March 2026

I’m slowly recovering (physically and mentally) from my broken femur, and my priority is working on my comic book for Kibitz editions! I initially thought I would provide the storyboard by mid-February, or at the latest by the end of the month, but under the circumstances I made virtually no progress until mid-March.

Goats, Mexican street art, and supporting a more wholesome digital world โ€“ Letter from the studio, November 2025

So I did not manage to send a letter from Mexico ๐Ÿ˜Œ. I thought I could just say hello, but on the other hand I had prepared material for a full-blown letter, while not really knowing how to handle it from my mobile phone. Also, jetlag, illnesses, and overwhelm from so many strange and new experiences (and no, in Mexico City โ€“ a.k.a. CDMX for โ€˜Ciudad De MeXicoโ€™ ๐Ÿ˜Š๏ธ โ€“ you can’t get far speaking English / no Spanish ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๏ธ). So the letter did not happenโ€ฆ

Anyway, here I am now with some eye candy for you ๐Ÿ˜˜๏ธ!

Creating a repeating pattern with a hand-carved stamp โ€“ Day 6 and final

Actually I want to print the front papers too, in a different colour scheme, so there should be a follow-up at some point ;) But for now let me show you some process pictures of the actual printing!

Creating a repeating pattern with a hand-carved stamp โ€“ Days 3-5

I’ve made it to the test print! โ€ฆbut let’s first pick up where we left ๐Ÿ˜Œ๏ธ

Creating a repeating pattern with a hand-carved stamp โ€“ Day 2

So I’ve reworked the base hexagonal tile for my repeat pattern.

Creating a repeating pattern with a hand-carved stamp โ€“ Day 1

It’s been a moment since I last tried my hand at repeating patterns, or stamp carving. Today I’m diving back with an obviously much too ambitious project: carving a stamp for an hexagon-based pattern – also, small enough to repeat on the “end papers” of my A6-size sketchbook ๐Ÿ˜…๏ธ.

A sun bear and a kingfisher โ€“ Letter from the studio, April 2025

This should be a short one as I’ve been and still am busy preparing a pitch of my comic project, which has to be delivered on May 16th at the latest. So let’s go!
