Art in August-September: Potpourri
I made 2 small tea/coffee-themed paintings, with a background of geometric patterns that I always find fascinating (the pink one is actually inspired by a coffee pot – but not the one on the painting), and decorated in the kind of starry sky/space stuff that I’m liking at the moment (maybe too eclectic? 😅️).
Here you can see how it started (the little sketches on the post-its!)… and how it ended up.

Inspired by the hare who’s been visiting us often I made this small painting in my sketchbook, little by little over the space of many days! (started on August 3rd, finished on September 7th)

And I went to another meeting of the ‘Urban Sketchers Bremen’ (I wrote about my first meeting in my previous letter), this time in the ‘Viertel’ quarter (the name simply means “quarter” 😅️).

You may have noticed that I moved the tree 😁️ – artistic licence for the sake of image composition, and mostly because I wanted the bookshop’s sign (including the logo) to be clearly visible :)
From my camera roll: A lost place in the woods
A few years ago we already went for a walk on the edge of this former military base and went into some abandoned houses. This time we realised that the area was much bigger. We learnt that it was a former munitions depot from the Second World War, and that during the Cold War nuclear weapons were even stored there!

Inspiration: Zines FM
I’ve been following Jenni Kosche‘s publications for a few years, since Instagram (usefully for once) suggested me her project ‘zines.cool’ – on the Internet, but also in print, as I’m the happy owner of some of her zines :)

Thanks to Jenni and her ‘Zinetausch’ (which could be traslated as ‘Zine-Swap’, maybe?) I got myself motivated (2 years ago already??!) to create an 8-page comic-zine and have it riso-printed! (the idea was to make a whole series – the topic is experiences that feel hard in the moment but afterwards you only keep the great memories :) – but “for now” there are no further volumes 😅️).

Today I’m telling you about her related podcast, Zines.FM (in German, sorry 😅️), because I especially enjoyed the episode ‘Zinetalk with Schnopp’, which put me in a good mood :) Just a conversation between zine-nerds, full of passion and brimming with new ideas for zines (as if we didn’t have too many ideas already and not enough time to actually make the things) 😊️.
That’s it for this month (or rather these two months)! You’ll hear from me again in November :)
