Goats, Mexican street art, and supporting a more wholesome digital world – Letter from the studio, November 2025

So I did not manage to send a letter from Mexico 😌. I thought I could just say hello, but on the other hand I had prepared material for a full-blown letter, while not really knowing how to handle it from my mobile phone. Also, jetlag, illnesses, and overwhelm from so many strange and new experiences (and no, in Mexico City – a.k.a. CDMX for ‘Ciudad De MeXico’ 😊️ – you can’t get far speaking English / no Spanish 😬️). So the letter did not happen…

Anyway, here I am now with some eye candy for you 😘️!

Sketches, a tractor, and an inspirational illustrator – Letter from the studio, September 2025

As I’m scrambling to prepare for the Frankfurt Book Fair next month – creating new pieces, promotional material, and a book pitch – all while continuing to work on my comic, I’m taking a moment to write this letter, a calm moment to reflect.

I hope that reading the letter is creating a calm moment for you too, a pause in your busy day :)

Chicken, storks, and Mexico :) – Letter from the studio, August 2025

The email letter came a little late this month, as last week (when I was supposed to write it) I’ve been unexpectedly busy reviewing a contract proposal for my very first comic book! ✨ (not offically signed yet so staying cautiously optimistic, but it looks like it’s really going to happen 😎)
Stay tuned for updates, and in the meantime, enjoy some birds and some travel inspiration 😊

Thistle! Hares! A quirky church ceiling! And other wonders (plus, news from my comic project) – Letter from the studio, July 2025

Sorry (not too sorry ;)), this will be a long one! At the time I would have been supposed to write the June letter I was in Swedish Lapland, paddling in a packraft, sleeping in a hammock, hiking in a pathless forest, or driving our camper van… It was a bit too much so I had to skip the letter – but shot all the more photos 😅.

Vintage computers, and a bee – Letter from the studio, May 2025

This month (as opposed to the last) I found a lot to choose from, both art-wise and photo-wise, so here’s an eclectic mix – plus our artist of the month. Enjoy! :)

A sun bear and a kingfisher – Letter from the studio, April 2025

This should be a short one as I’ve been and still am busy preparing a pitch of my comic project, which has to be delivered on May 16th at the latest. So let’s go!

Watching the Northern lights! and a silly little comic :) – Letter from the studio, March 2025

As opposed to February, March was an eventful month for me:

A self-portrait and some Angoulême Comics Festival vibes – Letter from the studio, February 2025

The main event in my February took place at the very beginning (starting in January, strictly speaking ;)): the International Comics Festival in the small town of Angoulême! I am lucky to have friends there, so that I can both visit them and have a conveniently located accommodation – which is really hard to come by during the festival.

How I’m writing a comic and maybe saw a UAP – Letter from the studio, January 2025

In theory, I’ve had a newsletter since some time in 2023, but I’ve only ever sent one out 😅. Now, after focusing on finding illustration work in the children’s publishing industry (without success yet but with some encouraging signs 😊), I’m intending to also make more art for the “general public”, so I think it makes sense to revive (or, really, start) this “Letter from the studio”!

Drawing makeover! The little prince and the fox

I did the initial drawing (digitally, although it looks like colour pencil ;)) while working on my illustrated adaptation of ‘The Little Prince’. In order to advertise the upcoming book at French convention Japan Expo, I handed out this flyer at my stand (the image displays front and back side by side): I was very […]
