Goats, Mexican street art, and supporting a more wholesome digital world – Letter from the studio, November 2025

So I did not manage to send a letter from Mexico 😌. I thought I could just say hello, but on the other hand I had prepared material for a full-blown letter, while not really knowing how to handle it from my mobile phone. Also, jetlag, illnesses, and overwhelm from so many strange and new experiences (and no, in Mexico City – a.k.a. CDMX for ‘Ciudad De MeXico’ 😊️ – you can’t get far speaking English / no Spanish 😬️). So the letter did not happen…

Anyway, here I am now with some eye candy for you 😘️!

Creating a repeating pattern with a hand-carved stamp – Day 6 and final

Actually I want to print the front papers too, in a different colour scheme, so there should be a follow-up at some point ;) But for now let me show you some process pictures of the actual printing!

I’ve made it to the test print! …but let’s first pick up where we left 😌️

So I’ve reworked the base hexagonal tile for my repeat pattern.

Creating a repeating pattern with a hand-carved stamp – Day 1

It’s been a moment since I last tried my hand at repeating patterns, or stamp carving. Today I’m diving back with an obviously much too ambitious project: carving a stamp for an hexagon-based pattern – also, small enough to repeat on the “end papers” of my A6-size sketchbook 😅️.

A sun bear and a kingfisher – Letter from the studio, April 2025

This should be a short one as I’ve been and still am busy preparing a pitch of my comic project, which has to be delivered on May 16th at the latest. So let’s go!
