Sorry (not too sorry ;)), this will be a long one! At the time I would have been supposed to write the June letter I was in Swedish Lapland, paddling in a packraft, sleeping in a hammock, hiking in a pathless forest, or driving our camper vanβ¦ It was a bit too much so I had to skip the letter β but shot all the more photos π .

This month (as opposed to the last) I found a lot to choose from, both art-wise and photo-wise, so here’s an eclectic mix β plus our artist of the month. Enjoy! :)
This should be a short one as I’ve been and still am busy preparing a pitch of my comic project, which has to be delivered on May 16th at the latest. So let’s go!
As opposed to February, March was an eventful month for me:
The main event in my February took place at the very beginning (starting in January, strictly speaking ;)): the International Comics Festival in the small town of AngoulΓͺme! I am lucky to have friends there, so that I can both visit them and have a conveniently located accommodation – which is really hard to come by during the festival.
In theory, I’ve had a newsletter since some time in 2023, but I’ve only ever sent one out π . Now, after focusing on finding illustration work in the children’s publishing industry (without success yet but with some encouraging signs π), I’m intending to also make more art for the “general public”, so I think it makes sense to revive (or, really, start) this “Letter from the studio”!
Some months back I was uninspired and filled this sketchbook page with random watercolour strokes β a trick some artists recommend against “fear of the blank page”. It didn’t work π₯² (not for the first time, so maybe that trick’s not for me π ).
I was entranced by the shapes of the slowly drying vine and sepals on this tomato :) Untypically, I followed my impulse to sketch it ποΈ
…Featuring cute woodland creatures on the mailer ποΈ
Portrait, landscape, or something else? That is the question!
