Last week I had a chat with the museum’s employees and showed them my drawings, and somehow I was dreading being recognised and talked to 😅️. I tend to really stress out when being talked to by strangers, or in this case semi-strangers… Though I know I probably would have like to talk with them again, about art, the museum, or whatever… Anyway!
I have to thank my love for gently pushing me outside of the house ;) Then I debated with myself for a long time whether I would stay outside the museum, where there are a lot of interesting things to draw in the museum’s park (and the outside of the museum itself, for that matter).
I did draw this banner with the museum’s logo, which I find striking, and some fallen oak leaves :) This ended up being my favourite drawing of the day 😁️
But it was cold and damp, and there were some interesting statues inside that I had thought last time (and also on previous visits!) that I would like to draw. So in I went – and, anticlimax, I did not meet last week’s employees at all 😁️ Also, I was prepared, with a small belt pouch for my art supplies, that I was able to carry in. And I took one of the foldable stools that the museum provides, probably for people who cannot stand too long – a great service, also for artists! :)
I spent about an hour and a half (if I remember well) trying to capture the eerie looks of this lady (according to its description, a garden statue personifying spring, sculpted by Theophil Wilhelm around 1750). I let you judge whether I succeeded – I don’t think so 😅️
I think I will be back to try again – but not right now ;) Maybe I’ll come every few months, see if I’m getting better! Still, again, I did have a good time drawing, both with brush pen and pencil, and lost myself and the count of time. Very relaxing :)
Next week I’m taking a few days off so there will be no Art Practice Day. Stay tuned for the next one, where I will probably be trying out linocut supplies I had wished for and received last Christmas, and not used since! I’m thinking fern motif, white on dark :)
